True or false?

Bolts were recently installed 30' up Ultra Brutal.

That these bolts were used for a camera crew filming a Hollywood movie to anchor the top of an extension ladder so that Vigo Mortensen (whoever that is) could climb to the top of it an pose as if he was climbing Ultra Brutal.

That certain climbers came upon this and were then paid to serve as Public Relations to other climbers passing by so as to keep them away from what was happening.

That the filming crew's intention is to continue bolting on Big Science and Wham so that they could get other great shots.

If no one flips out about this then Index really does suck now.

Filming is to continue on the 16th and 17th...

I've seen those bolts. Rather ugly looking, so low to the ground.

The whole thing seems weird, with the Hollywood involvement and all.

Of course it should be fairly straightforward to do any rigging they need without adding bolts. They ought to contact Tom Ramier for expert rigging.

If they remove the bolts and patch the holes, who really cares. I mean look at that big hole underneath ultra brutal. I coulda done a better patch work on that tunnel than they did. Ha

Vigo Mortenheimer everyone.

I'm sure they'll do a great job "patching" the holes.

Don't show that pic to my wife, otherwise she will pick up climbing.

Vigo Mortenheimer everyone

The famous Vigo Mortenheimer of Lord of the Rings fame?

Flashclimber: Don't you WANT your wife to take up climbing? Family trips become climbing trips and all that?

Mortenheimer could be the best thing for climbing in ages...

There was a heavy bolt-fest on Darrington's Blueberry hill some years ago: a TV adventure quest sort of thing called Primal Quest.  They were thoroughly professional about the whole thing, fancy removable bolts, plugged the holes, put rocks back in place on ledges, etc. The rigging crew was made up of guys with extensive climbing background who did that sort of thing for a living, along with working on the faces of dams, whatever.

My first assumption would be that the rigging crew at Index is similarly competent and aware of exactly what environment they're in.  Even better if the production company makes a nice donation to the pit toilet maintenance fund!
